The Life of M.E. Eldridge(1909-1991)

This website is dedicated to the life and art of Mildred Elsie Eldridge, creator of one of the great British murals of the twentieth century.

Her husband was the famous Welsh poet RS Thomas, so people think that she put aside her career to support him in his duties as a parish priest.

You will see from this website: she was as prolific and resilient an artist as he was a poet.

With the establishment of the RS Thomas & ME Eldridge Society in 2017, she is now given equal ranking with her husband, who wrote:

Many people have his poems on their bookshelves, few have her paintings on their walls. The authors of this website welcome the addition of images of her art to the gallery page from members of the public or institutions.

Mae’r wefan hon yn ymroddedig i fywyd a chelf Mildred Elsie Eldridge, crëwr un o furluniau mawr Prydain yr ugeinfed ganrif.

Ei gŵr oedd y bardd Cymreig enwog
RS Thomas, felly mae pobl yn meddwl iddi roi ei gyrfa o’r neilltu i’w gefnogi yn ei ddyletswyddau fel offeiriad plwyf.

arlunydd mor doreithiog a gwydn ag yr oedd yn fardd.

& ME Eldridge yn 2017, mae hi bellach
yn cael safle cyfartal gyda’i gŵr, a
ysgrifennodd:
